Abstract

This study is about the change management processes implemented by the Namibia Breweries Limited during the COVID-19 pandemic in Windhoek-Khomas region. Change management has proven to be a very important tool in re-directing most organizations to success despite circumstances. The Namibia Breweries LTD (NBL) had its ups and downs during the gruesome of COVID-19, despite these hard times, it had a turnaround strategy of employing the change management theories of both Lewin, Kurt and Prosci also known as ADKAR. Chapter one with emphasis on the background of the study, detailed how the NBL was formed, and all the transitions it went through to be where it is today. Still in chapter one, the problem statement with the focus of the change management strategies that were employed by NBL during the transitions imposed by COVID-19, need for agility and business enablement led the company to redefine the conventional understanding of operations and risk management. Chapter two which is the theoretical frame as well as the literature review presented the processes and needed to implement change. Barriers to change management such as external factors and internal factors are also outlined as well as the resistance to change by the employees. Chapter three which details the methodology used and the philosophies are all outlines. The pragmatism philosophy recognizes many ways to solve or reach to a solution. Chapter four present the data analysis, and presentation. The data that was collected using the questionnaire is interpreted in this chapter to give a meaningful information. Chapter five has few characters which findings of the study, conclusion, and recommendations for further study. The findings of the study proved beyond doubts that indeed NBL used the change management theories to help them continue with operations despite the conflictions of the pandemic. The pragmatism philosophy was used in chapter three (3), which enables a researcher to combine both qualitative and quantitative research method. Pragmatism philosophy recognize many ways to solve or reach to a solution of a problem identified. A probability sampling method was used to stream the population size to the desired sample size. This type of sampling enables every member of the population to be selected and participate in the research.
