Employee motivation affects productivity and a poorly motivated labor force are costly to the organization in terms of lower productivity and performance, excessive staff turnover, increased expenses, frequent absenteeism as well as a negative effect on the morale of colleagues. These primary attractions of such individuals into the organization will undoubtedly lower morale and the effectiveness of such individuals' performance, which will have an impact on the overall productivity of the organization. This study intended to investigate the impact of employee motivation on employee’s performance at the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The study was prompted by the high staff turnover despite the Ministry offering above average salaries. The cause of high employee turnover and low productivity in the Ministry is due to lack of motivation, thus the employee performance is very poor and this has led to poor health status of the employees as they are demotivated, stress level is high among the employees leading to more employees taking sick leave. Data were collected through the use of in depth interviews. The study embraced a qualitative approach and the population of this study was non-management employees at the Ministry of Health and Social Services in Omaheke region. This study used non-probability sampling in a form of purposeful sampling whom 10 of the participants partake in this study. Data were analysed using thematic data analysis. The research findings have shown that, the Ministry of Health and Social Services employs a variety of motivational strategies, including incentives, bonuses, promotions, and training initiatives, to recruit, retain, and ultimately enhance employee performance. The findings further showed that, employees are not unsatisfied with their pay or other workplace conditions. The study concluded that the Ministry's employee are greatly motivated by the performance appraisal activities.
